Dr Mahomed Sheikh
After qualifying from The University of Sheffield in 2011, Mohamed gained considerable experience in general and out-of-hours dentistry. It was in practice where he developed a keen interest in Restorative Dentistry and now focuses particularly on providing advanced endodontic and surgical endodontic treatments.
Mohamed is set to complete his Masters in Endodontics. The aim of this form of treatment is to avoid extraction and save the natural teeth. He endeavours to give his patients’ teeth the best possible chance of survival by utilising his extensive experience, structured means and a patient-centred approach to providing advanced endodontic therapies.
In all cases, Mohamed uses state-of-the-art equipment, including high-powered microscopy, digital radiography, rotary/ultrasonic preparation and thermal obituration. A combination of his knowledge and execution will ultimately contribute to the delivery of good-quality care and optimal clinical outcome to his patients.
Attending courses across Europe, the Middle East and even America has allowed Mohamed’s knowledge and experience of dentistry to broaden. He is also a former student of the prestigious Dawson Academy in America. Being an enthusiastic advocate for teaching and education, Mohamed has also dedicated his time to become a trainer to Foundation Dentists. He aims to extend his passion for the field of dentistry to future dentists and enjoys playing a key role in cultivating their minds as well as developing their skills into becoming respectable dentists with good values.
Mohamed strongly believes in evidence-based dentistry and this provides the backbone to the treatment that he provides to his patients. He is extremely dedicated to his specialty and is a member of the British Endodontic Society. Mohamed accepts referrals from your general dentist and is happy to assist and liaise with your treating clinician in any cases where you may require additional support and treatment.
Dr Mahomed Issa
His focus has always been on promoting and providing patients with the strongest foundations of oral health, thereafter building and rehabilitating patients to smile and function. This is where Mohamed’s interests in periodontology began. In 2009, he began a 3-year Masters in Clinical Periodontology, for which he gained a merit in 2012. After further training, he was recognised by the General Dental Council as a Specialist in Periodontics.
Dentistry is Mohamed’s passion and he has held a variety of positions around the Midlands, both in general practice and the hospital setting. General practice experience has allowed him to appreciate all facets and disciplines of dentistry which, in turn, allows him to provide all aspects of care to his patients.
Mohamed has worked as an honorary Speciality Doctor at Glenfield Hospital in his hometown of Leicester, as well as a clinical teacher in restorative dentistry at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital Periodontology and Restorative Departments. Hospital positions have allowed Mohamed to treat complex cases as well as teach the next generation of Dentists.
Mohamed offers his services and specialist expertise in the diagnosis and treatment planning of many periodontal problems patients may suffer from. His aim is to use his extensive periodontal knowledge and skills to establish a healthy periodontal environment, which is conducive to maintaining the natural dentition. His approach is centred on patient motivation and, wherever possible, non-surgical methods – however, when appropriate, he uses surgical periodontal therapy, including surgical regeneration and mucogingival plastic surgery to achieve optimal results. All surgical treatment is carried out using magnification and microsurgical instruments.
One of the greatest things about Dentistry is it is an environment that constantly evolves and always room to grow learn and develop. This is what inspired Mohamed to complete a Diploma in Implantology at The University of Central Lancashire, which complements the periodontal training already completed. This also helps Mohamed to rehabilitate patients where their natural dentition requires replacement. Mohamed is committed to my speciality and to continual professional development, and is a member of the British Society of Periodontology (BSP), the European Federation of Periodontology (EFP), the International Team for Implant Dentistry and the Dentinal Tubules.
